TRICK-A-THON THEN

TRICK-A-THON NOW

The TRICK-A-THON was created by the Magic Theatre Workshop in the mid 1990's in London

The founding team were all members of The London Society of Magicians

Peter Baker, Steve Coulson, Alan Hood, Alan Jones, Paul Sewell, Chris Turner and extra special person Lesley Sewell (the only non-magician).

Two major events were held in London in the 1990's. The first was based around the Fox and Firkin Pub where Alan Jones (Big Al) was a resident entertainer.

This was the first magic marathon. A team of 6 magicians entertained for 24 hours in the Fox and Firkin.

The following year the venue was Muswells Wine Bar in Ealing.

The format moved away from the marathon idea and instead featured performances in the local shopping centre with magicians supported by OddSocks Clown Company.

Close-Up magic performances were held during the afternoon and the evening in the wine bar, together with a small cabaret performance from (if memory serves) Fay Presto, John Lenahan and Alan Jones.

With the disbanding of the Magic Theatre Workshop (who not only produced the Trickathon but also amongst the first in the UK to offer regular Spirit Theatre Shows) the charity project was put on the back burner.

Alan Jones had always wanted to revive the Trickathon but the time never seemed right.

This year, with the support and encouragement of Kenny Roberts of Kernow Magic, we will be reviving the magic marathon for Children in Need.

On the weekend of the 21st November Alan and Kenny will start a 36 hour non-stop performance of magic based in and around Ribticklers in Falmouth.

The magic starts at 10.30am on Saturday 21st and runs until 10.30pm on Sunday 22nd November.

During shop opening hours we will be based in the shop itself and perform for members of the public, perhaps even taking the performance into one or two of the local clubs and pubs.

During the night and early hours of the 21st and 22nd there will be an INVITED audience and the performances will be shown on the web through a web cam link.
